2012 was the year when gamers worldwide could finally enjoy the fun of playing PES 2013. The news of its release was a music to the ear for all hardcore followers of the series. It has a control system that is harder to master than the simplistic controls of FIFA but it is an intuitive and rewarding one.
Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) has been a rival to FIFA for a long time. Some gamers like the former, some others like the latter, and there are also some who like both though perhaps playing one of them more often than the other.
Features and Highlights
PES 2013 is a better version than its predecessors. There were opinions that believed Konami had finally taken the right direction with the franchise, making it once again a worthy rival to FIFA.
Some new features are added, including a new dribbing skill known as Double Touch that lets you tap the ball to your other leg and then push the ball forward to evade the defender who tries to block you. It is not easy to master but it is worth the time to get used to it.
Tackling is also an important skill to master. If done properly, players will be able to defend better. In PES 2013, you can control a defender so that he tries hard to take the ball from the opponent’s control, but it has to be done carefully as tackling too soon or too slow will give the chance for the attacker to get past you.
The ball passing has been improved too in this game. There is now an arrow on the field that helps you know which direction the pass will take before you execute it. In the previous version of the game, you might find the player passes the ball to a wrong teammate when there are more than one running close to the player. It is fairly frustrating and sometimes messes up the attacks.
The improvement has also been made to one-two passing. Unlike in the past when the player could only run forward after passing the ball, you can now control his direction, and so makes it possible for you to create an unexpected move that can confuse your opponent.
When you shoot a ball toward the goal, you can control the direction of the shot, which is different from the past when the AI helped determining the direction of the shots. Scoring a goal was easier back then, but it was less satisfying because the score was not entirely your effort. In PES 2013, scoring goals is perhaps harder than before but the satisfaction you feel is worth the trouble.
