Food quality and quantity can be upgraded , but you’ll need coins to do so. 

Coins appear on screen in random places. You can take each by clicking it, but you have to be quick because they disappear the moment they hit the bottom. The more coins you have, the more pets you can collect and the more eggs you can buy.

To get yourself an egg, you have to buy three egg pieces. You need this egg to advance to the next level. At first, the price of an egg is cheap enough that you can buy one quickly after collecting some coins. However, the prices are increasingly expensive as you progress through the levels, leaving you spending a long time feeding your fish to buy them.

On the bright side, you’ll get a new pet from each egg. Each pet is useful to complete every level. For example, Niko the Oyster is a pet that produces pearls that you can click on for coins, and each pearl is worth a hefty sum of coins. There is also Itchy the Swordfish, which helps you fight aliens when they invade your tank. 

Even Stinky the Snail is a very helpful pet. It roams the bottom of the tank, moving endlessly back and forth to collect coins that fall down so you don’t need to do it on your own unless you want to get it done faster.

The virtual pet game offers several modes. Adventure is where you’ll go through about 21 levels, each of which comes with its own charms. Time Trial is the mode that tests your skill at collecting coins as much as possible over a limited amount of time. Challenge is similar to Adventure but with a twist that makes it harder to play.
